How do I set my email up in Microsoft Outlook 2000?

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook 2000 to work with your e-mail account. This tutorial focuses on setting up Microsoft Outlook 2000, but these settings are similar in other versions of Microsoft Outlook. You can set up previous versions of Microsoft Outlook by using the settings in this tutorial.

To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook 2000

1. In Microsoft Outlook, select Tools > Accounts.
   
   
   
   If you do not have an Accounts option, you will need to reconfigure Outlook for Internet Mail support before you will be able to proceed.
   
   
2. From the Internet Accounts window, click on the Mail tab. Click the Add button and select Mail from the drop down menu to bring up the Account Setup Wizard.
   
   
   
   
3. Enter your name in the Display Name field how you would like it to appear on messages sent from you. This will appear next to your email address on all messages you send. It does not have to be your full name. Then click Next.
   
   
   
   
4. Enter your email address in the E-mail address field then click Next.
   
   
   
   
5. For the type of mail server, select POP3 from the list. For the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server enter gallus.uk.com. For the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server enter gallus.uk.com. Then click Next.
   
   
   
   
6. For the POP account name enter your username. This is your email address.
   
   Enter your password in the Password field and click Next to continue.
   
   Do not check the Log on using Secure Password Authentication box or you will not be able to retrieve your email.
   
   
   
   
7. If you are a DSL subscriber select the Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN) option.
   
   If you are a dialup subscriber, or a DSL subscriber using the Intel series DSL modem, select the I will establish my connection manually option.
   
   After selecting the correct option for your connection method, click Next to continue.
   
   A Congratulations window will appear, click Finish to save the account and return to the Internet Accounts page.
